What is Passpoint?
Passpoint (also called Hotspot 2.0) is a Wi-Fi technology standard that lets your device connect to a Wi-Fi network **automatically and securely**, without you needing to see a network name in a list, tap it, and enter a password every time. Wi-DAS uses your existing WiFi networks to behave much like a DAS system, without the hassle and fees of creating one. In effect, your WiFi acts as a cellular network.
How Passpoint works
1. Your device has a "profile" — loaded automatically based on your SIM card or carrier — that tells it which Passpoint networks it's allowed to trust.
2. When your device sees a Passpoint network broadcasting nearby, it checks that profile.
3. If there's a match, your device authenticates in the background and connects automatically with no user input needed.
4. From that point on, your device treats the connection like a trusted network, similar to cellular.
Why this matters for you
- No manual sign-in — you won't see a login page or "accept terms" screen on supported networks.
- Better security — the connection is encrypted, unlike a lot of open/public Wi-Fi.
- Seamless roaming — your device can move between Passpoint access points without dropping and reconnecting.
